About Me

David Geller, A.C.S.W., L.C.S.W., is a psychotherapist with a private practice in Westport, CT. Known for his integrity and compassion, as well as a relaxed and respectful counseling style, David has been working with children, families, individuals and couples in Fairfield and New Haven counties for almost 30 years.

With a Masters in Social Work from Smith College, David specializes in solution-focused, goal-oriented therapy helping people achieve desired changes that can lead to a more satisfying and fulfilling life.

"I believe that everyone has the ability to manage life's challenges successfully and to solve problem's using his or her own inner resources. My job is to be there as guide and witness as my clients set goals and, together, we find a way to achieve them. Finding and working with a therapist can be a stressful or fearful experience for many people. I work to limit this discomfort with a down-to-earth, friendly approach. I explain the process we take together in an understandable manner. Your feelings are what matters most and I am going to actively listen to what your feeling are telling us."

"Although I am trained psychoanalytically, I use an eclectic approach, depending on my assessment of your strengths, values and needs. That could include play therapy with kids, mirroring with couples, or role playing with adults. I work with children and adolescents on issues of anxiety, peer difficulties, life and social skills, substance abuse, academic problems and parent conflicts".

"Another focus of my practice is helping families to cope with the complex array of issues surrounding divorce, remarriage and the blended family. I know from personal and professional experience that divorce families can and do reestablish themselves and go on to create stable, supportive and loving environments for themselves and their children".

David has presented at national conferences and to general audiences speaking on topics of divorce, depression and parenting issues.
